Expert participation terms.
What you agree to when you tick the box on your expert profile. Plain words, no surprises. Last updated October 31, 2026.
1. Who this is between
These terms are between you and Splendid Engines ("we", "us"), a partnership in Canada between The F.P. Company and Gaul Corp. You agree to them when you tick the participation terms box on your expert profile and submit it. We keep a record of the date you did. You need to be 18 or older to join.
2. The three things we ask
- Response time. When we email you about a new opportunity, you do your best to reply within 5 business days. A yes or a no both count.
- Repost. When a piece you appear in goes live, you share it to your network with your own thoughts, not a bare share, at the time we schedule. We always schedule it within your workday.
- Participation. You share firsthand experience from your work as a practitioner: real decisions, real results, in your own words.
3. Permission to feature you
When you take part in a piece, you give us, and the brand the piece is made with, permission to record, edit, publish, share and promote that piece, anywhere and in any format, using:
- your name, job title, company and the topics you speak to;
- your face, voice and image, from video, audio or photos you take part in or send us;
- what you say or write for the piece, including quotes;
- your headshot, and any logo or brand assets you give us.
- How long. For as long as the piece stays published, and in our archive after that.
- Payment. This permission is free. Neither of us owes the other anything for it.
- Editing. We edit for length, clarity and format. You approve the final version before it goes live, and nothing goes live with you in it without your sign-off. Clips and excerpts we cut from the version you approved, for promotion, keep what you meant. You waive your moral rights only as far as needed for that.
- No endorsement. We will never present you as endorsing a product, or put words in your mouth. If we quote you, it's something you said.
- The brand's own form. A brand may ask you to sign its own release for a piece. That's between you and them, and it doesn't change these terms.
4. You see it before anyone else
- Final sign-off. You see each piece before it goes live, fix anything that's wrong about you or your work, and approve the final version. It doesn't go live until you do.
- Your sign-off chain. If your manager, PR or legal team needs to approve, tell us on your profile. We build their review into the schedule.
- After launch. If you spot a factual error about you in a published piece, tell us and we'll correct it.
- Saying no. You can pass on any opportunity, at any time, for any reason. Nobody is told who said no.
5. Who owns what
- The piece belongs to the brand. The finished piece, including your recorded contribution to it, belongs to the brand we make it with: our client. You don't own it, and neither do we. You give the brand any rights you have in your contribution to it.
- Your knowledge stays yours. What you know and the ideas you bring are still yours. You can talk about the same topics anywhere, with anyone.
- You can always share it. Share the piece, link to it, and use it to show your work.
6. What you promise us
- It's yours to share. What you contribute is yours to give, true to the best of your knowledge, and doesn't break anyone else's rights.
- Nothing confidential. You don't share anything confidential to your employer or anyone else.
- Your employer's rules. If your employer has a policy on public speaking or content, you follow it. Tell us if it limits what you can do.
- Before launch. You keep a piece and its launch date to yourself until it goes live.
7. Unpaid unless we agree otherwise
Taking part is voluntary and unpaid, unless we agree something different with you in writing for a specific piece. Being in the community doesn't make you an employee, contractor or agent of Splendid Engines or of any brand. We can't promise how many opportunities you'll get, or any at all.
8. Your information
- What we keep. Your profile: name, email, LinkedIn, the details you give us on your profile, and the date you agreed to these terms.
- Why. To match you with pieces that fit, to contact you about them, and to run the pieces you take part in. We don't sell it, and we don't add you to marketing lists.
- Who sees it. Our team, and a brand only when you've said yes to working with them. Brands never see the full community.
- Where it's stored. In the software we use to run Splendid Engines, such as our CRM and database. Some of these providers store data outside Canada, including in the United States.
- How long. While you're in the community, then for a reasonable period after you leave, unless the law requires otherwise.
- Your control. Ask us any time to see, correct or delete your information, or to withdraw your consent.
- Privacy contact. Evan Fradley-Pereira, evan@splendidengines.com, is responsible for how we handle your information. Write to him with any request or concern. Our privacy policy has the full detail.
9. Leaving
You can leave the community at any time by replying to any email from us. We stop sending you opportunities and delete your profile. Pieces already published stay live, because the brand and other contributors are in them too. If you ask, we stop promoting them with your name from then on. We can also end your membership, for example if these terms aren't kept, and we'll tell you if we do.
10. Limits
The community is offered as is. As far as the law allows, neither of us is liable to the other for indirect or consequential losses arising from these terms or a piece. Nothing here limits any right you have by law that can't be limited.
11. Changes to these terms
If we change these terms in a way that matters, we email you first. The changes apply to new pieces only. If you don't want to continue under the new terms, you can leave as described above.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.
